Moving a Museum to WordPress was a huge cooperative effort. The Greensboro Historical Museum staff moved content – and created new content – for months as we rolled out the WordPress multisite build. We had many meetings, previewed other sites (what we liked and what we did not) and learned about trends in web design (slideshows are great, but how long will they be around – and how can we change the homepage main image in another way?). TechTriad trained the museum staff to use WordPress in several meetings, screen share sessions, and written tutorials.
A Museum of history has lots of photos and we built several tools to make the available photos easy to find for users. In addition, the Museum’s archives are extensive so creating the archives site was a detailed, painstaking process (with lots of tweaks).
And why not put the Museum Shop online? People want to buy GHM exclusives, so we guided the project with Museum staff and volunteers.
This project is one we at TechTriad are proud of and we enjoyed working with the Museum staff and volunteers!
